Almost a 951 owner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well the long search is over........ I found a 1986 951, 101k miles, it came with over $20k worth of records dating back from 86'and it has new upgraded suspension all around. Maintenance is pretty much up to date. I've got to take care of the brakes, a rear cam seal leak, a small exhaust leak, and the usual fluids and stuff. The compression was good(140-135-140-140),
and everything else checked out.
I haven't seen it with my own eyes, but Brian @ A. Bauer thought it was a real nice example when I had the PPI done.
I can't fricken wait!!!!!!! woohoo!!!!!!!(spoken like Homer)
The only bad thing is that I might have to sell my 84' to fund the 951 upgrading I have planned. I'm trying to figure out a way to keep both but I don't think thats going to work out. DOH
I've enjoyed this site for over a year now and am looking forward to working on this 951 with all your help.
Thanks!!!!!!!!
Jason

I know how you feel, I'm going to be picking up my '86 951 this weekend or next. Its bone stock and checked out with flying colors by the local porsche/bimmer garage. Belts/seals, etc. done 3K ago.
It's like waiting for Christmas, isn't it?

Well in my case I believe I did rather well. The selling price was $6000. It's gold with brown interior which I think is not the most desirable color to most people, and therefore worked to my advantage. It looks great and has the sunroof delete option which is the main reason I'm buying it. I've always had headroom issues with 944s but this one will work for me. It's gloved in fuchs but the guy has unpainted aluminum center caps (yuck!) <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" /> . I'm contemplating bringing a can of black paint with me when I pick it up!

Congratulations on what sounds like an EXCELLENT find.
From your color description, it sounds as thought you have a "Kalahari Beige" car. (Or is it really gold?) I've seen this color often described by people as gold or champagne. I was not seeking a car in this color combo myself, but found a great example and once I saw it in person, really liked it! It's sort of a metallic beige, which a lot of cars these days are sporting. I think this color has aged really well; it's unconventional for a Porsche but you will enjoy it.
Please post photos when you get a chance!

Ya, it worse than christmas because I know what I'm getting!
It's a guard red one with a black almost flawless interior (no dash cracks). I will be the 3rd owner and probally the last as I am planning on keeping her as long as possible.
Like I said before the only bad thing is that I might have to sell my NA, which I really would rather not do considering the condition it is in.
If I do sell, I would want it to go to someone who would take care of it and not someone that would thrash on it. So if someone out there is looking for a very clean NA let me know.
I'll post pictures as soon as I get my 951.
Thanks all,
Jason
