just got some more pics of the rust from the owner... this looks contained in the one area, but yeesh...

Engine bay looks fine though. I mean the rust is only on that one side. Couldnt you just cut that panel out and replace it?

Run Forrest Run You've been flagged for not listening...there are much nicer cars out there for that money unless he drops it to $3K tops. If you are dead set on buying it keep track of the repair bills and post them. That way we can find you a nice $8K 951 that you could have bought instead.

haha! no one said I was buying it. The owner emailed me these pics, so I figured I would just pop them up here so everyone could see it.

I'm gonna offer 3 grand just for kicks and let you know.

Sorry-I wouldn't touch that car with a ten foot pole. Evidently the car has not been taken care of. I certainly would not not buy it sight unseen. Keep looking, I'm sure you can find one in much better shape. Even if you were able to buy it for 3000.00 your gonna drop some big money in it with body work, seat restoration, carpet, dash--and that's just cosmetic. You can bet that there are many other things that will need to be fixed. Just my opinion.

I offered him $2500 and he said no way and went into how there are cars listed for 10-15k. I just said thanks and good luck with the sale.

Officially the end

Its pretty easy to figure out why that rusted so bad right there just from looking at those two photos.............

Glad to hear you passed on it. I'm certain it was a hard pill to swallow for the guy when you offered that much money. Had he taken the time to really look at a $10K car, and what makes a $10K car worth that much, then detracted $$ from that for everything that needed attention on this car, he might have a more realistic idea of what to be asking. Oh well, the market will decide what price he eventually gets for the car, or he will be keeping it for a long while....

BUY THE CAR AND I'LL TAKE SOME PARTS!!!

It's a great candidate for a part-out.

I WANT that front bumper! (Need is actually the appropriate term here)

No one has a black one fo me.

Very true. I wonder what my car is worth now...? Glad you didn't go with it, it would have been way too much hassle to get that thing into a solid condition.

And rust WILL get to galvanized steel. It did on my car! In an area with no prior work, just poor treatment of the car

My car rusted at the rear of the drivers side fender inside. The PO messed up the "jack point" there (I wouldn't use it as such BTW), pushed it in, cracked the undercoating and things went from there. I can show you the process it took to fix it if you like. I have plenty of pictures.
