IMPORTANT 944 TURBO BEFORE I BUY
Hello,
I have finally found my 951, 1986 today at a fair price. I'm gonna get in a week, due to banks where closed and it's far away from where I live. Left him a deposit. I presently own a 944 1985 (first edition). It was also the first time I tried turbo. IMPRESSIVE. I just loved it, everything. And the car is in great shape. My only concern is that, also is my question, on ''take off'', I didn't feel as much torque as my presently ordinary 944. The 951 had to be, in first gear, at least at 3000-3500rpm, before I could feel the power kick in (it took about 1 second). Is that normal? Afterward, the 2nd, the 3rd (woohoo, scary), the 4th was really fine (lots, lots, lots of power).
I asked the guy and he says it was normal for a turbo, specially that it was a really hot, humid day. Or maybe, what I'm thinking right now, I just don't know how to drive a turbo yet.
It's my only concern about the car, can somebody help me, I don't know much about turbos.
Thanks

It is turbo lag and very normal. Get a full exhaust and dump the cat, that will help A LOT!!!! As d 964 said get a PPI. They are great cars and great fun. Good luck.

I'm sorry I am not familiar with email text word:
what is a PPI and what does PM me means?
Thanks
If you don't mind calling me to give me some info, It would really help me.
I'm a bit scared of buying a car that I'm not familiar with (turbo technology).
But I'm really happy.
my cell phone # is 514.574.0672
thanks

Man, I'm telling your guys, on the highway, I did 0 to 150km/hour in like 5 or 6 second (well it felt like it).
This is what I call power. And the engine didn't even feel like it was braking a sweat.
I love it.

PPI= Pr Purchase Inspection. Take it to a local porsche specialist and have it checked out. Make sure you get records, ie when were the belts done, water pump, clutch, etc....... PM= private message. Click on his name and you can do it.
