Post FINAL: Rennlist Chat Room.....

Hey folks - last post on this - and I'll stick it at the top for a while....

The Rennlist Chat server is done for now. If you looked at them earlier - you are in for a few surprises, since there are many changes... The URL is here (for now ...

<a href="http://mall.rennlist.com/chat/" target="_blank">Rennlist Chat Server.....</a>

A couple of thoughts.. there are various "rooms" available - and you can make your own room, too...

I'd suggest posting a time to meet other users in the CHAT area - as it can get pretty lonely just chatting with oneself

Some of the changes from earlier today... (It is still web based - NO JAVA DOWNLOAD REQUIRED, create rooms, new colors, new layout, new designs, Who is On-Line, Send private messages to single users, flip into - out of rooms, complete set of SMILIES, IE doesn't CLICK on the refreshes!!! (yahooo!!! etc...

Enjoy!

John D, i noticed when i backspace i get booted from the chat server- not completely, but back to the login page. And it would be nice if you could auto-login based upon the rennlist user you are already logged in as-- Are you running Redhat 8 for a server??

HUGE IMPROVEMENT. Thanks for fixing the click too!

I hope we can get some good participation in the chat rooms. I'm really wondering how this is going to turn out...

Hi Folks..!!!

Thanks for the comments...! I really think scheduling a "CHAT" session for some pre-planned time is the way to go. Like - make a post to the Forum that you'll meet folks over there at X:30 EST on (pick an evening). If you do it on a regular basis, like once a week - or twice a week - or whatever, folks will get in the habit of checking over there during those times...

Hi Chris..! I tried to replicate the "backspace" log out with IE, NS, Opera - etc. - and can't? If the write message frame is "hot", you should be able to backspace fine? If the "Browser Window" is active (clicking on the actual frame itself, etc.), then the browser session probably thinks you are keying the "Back Button" on your browser..??).

DangerIsland..! - It's tough to figure out exactly where the problem is when you posted "doesn't seem to be working too well".. Ummm - can you give me a little more to go on..??!! Thanks!

Hi Jonathan..!! The new system is a hack between two products I was playing with yesterday (I'll get the names, but they are on my other system just now) - both are ASP based and run on one of my W2K servers - I simply hacked the two together a bit - and it seemed to hold together pretty well..!!

Best to all..!!!

I logged in - then had an error on the page. Sent report and tried logging into the chat room again, but it said I was already logged in.

How do you return to the chat session after you left, but didn't log out????
