Default Boost gauge intall is suspect

I have a pro comp vac/boost gauge in my 86 951 and when Im driving it, it doesn't come out of the vac readings. I try to watch it the best I can and even at 4000 rpm (driving) it doesn't reach boost levels. I can feel the boost come on at 4 grand but it doesnt show. I don't want to blow the engine with a lean condition so I thought I would double check the install. Does it sound like a vacuum leak? Everything that was done to the car by the previous owner has been a nightmare. The car has a boost enhancer but like I say, I don't notice boost until 4 grand. ANy suggestions are appreciated.

Given that you suspect everything that the PO did, would it no make sense to check first and ask afterwards?

That beng said, fllow the vacuum line off the back of the gauge and see where it is connected. It is connected, you should see something.
