Looking for Advice on Helmets and Collars
I'm hoping to do more DE and autocrossing this year, and I figure it's time to buy my own helmet and possibly a collar. Would anyone care to give advice on the following points?
I generally wear glasses. I have contact lenses, but they generally bug me after a couple of hours. Will a visored helmet be awkward with glasses? Should I go with the contacts and avoid wearing glasses when on the track?
What points should I consider in looking for a collar?
Cheers,
Mark

Mark, I have a Bell M2 extended coverage. It has a wider face opening for glasses. No conflict with a sheild or visor. The neck wrap is a matter of comfort IMO.Try Simpson or Sparco at Paragon or OG Racing.D

Mark, I used to do many DE's and currently run SCCA using a full face Simpson helmet (with wide visor opening) while wearing sun glasses behind the visor with no problems. On track, it is very easy to get dirt in a contact. Not something I would want to experience at full speed.
As for the collar, I would agree that it is a matter of comfort and preference. I use a Simpson ring and after a short while don't even notice it.

Check out the new model from G Force. It is full face but with an expanded opening. I tried one on this week at the track and it was extremely comfortable and provided great visibility. Much better than my Simpson. Great price to boot.

I got lucky and got a brand new flat black Bieffe Predator on Ebay for $185, it retails for $300+. I love it, but I don't wear glasses, so I can't speak to how well it would work for that.

Mark. I've got a Bell Mag4, open face with a visor. I also wear glasses, and since I autox exclusively, I don't think I could go for the confinement of a full face while sitting in the grid in August. I especially like the visor, which has a 1/2" band of darkened plastic extending down at the edge. When adjusted correctly, it is perfect for cutting that afternoon sun out of your vision.

Mark, The model is called the Force Hybrid. Check out their website www.gforceracinggear.com I would have bought it in a heartbeat if not for the fact that I need two new sets of track tires.
