Post Turbo Tim? Supercharger

Tim,

The SC on your page sounds TGTBT but I'm interested. Est cost upon release? It comes with a 3 year Warranty!, What exactly does that cover? I would like to see some dynos. Same performance increase for a 968?
What's this SC's effect going to be on emmisions?

Thanks

It should start at $300 andgo up from there. The warranty covers the supercharger itself and nothing more.Any model of Porsche should see about a 50% increase at 5 psi of boost. We have no idea what is going to happen with emissions but we are pretty sure this will be an off-road use only system for California cars.

Sweet - 300 bucks now you are talking my price range. I'll take 2!

-Matt

PS
You may want to change that cause I'm pretty sure you meant 3 grand.

Tim,

Not that I'm complaining, but $300? seriously? This reminds me of the time a few months back when I saw that 959 on E-bay that was going for $7000 w/o a reserve. Did anyone catch that one? There's always that point in time that you know it's too good to be true, but you still hope. Of course it was a typo on the sellers part, Some guy in italy broke my heart when he cancelled it. BTW I'm with Matt, I'll take two pre-orders at 300 each.

I asked this before....why the heck is supercharging a 944 so expensive? I watched my Cousin's Jetta get supercharged and it didn't seem like there was a whole bunch to it.

Hook up some stuff to the belts - run an intake line, push the air into the engine and that's basically about it right?

For $3000, I'll personally come to your house and sit on the hood while you drive and fan the front of the car with a huge hairdryer or something!!

Noting like having to pull start a contraption on the front of your car...

And the ricers will think its some sort of new product line called "TORO"

Sorry, jsut a funny thought....

and the sad thing is youd still be faster than them...possibly twice as fast if you make the leaf blower a type-R

SC'ing a car is more than just throwing more air into the engine...

You need to direct that air into the engine (plumbing), you need to get the extra fuel into the engine (pick your method of fuel managment..) and most SC kits I believe come with either a MAF or MAP sensor conversion.

There's a big difference between an SC kit and a GOOD SC kit.

Sure I bet the parts cost way less than $3000, but then there's R&D time along with some profit. And dont forget customer service, someone to call when it doesn't work perfectly.

Tim,

Have you guys made any progress on a 951 turbo-to-supercharger conversion kit?

I've been researching SC's for my 944 myself and the HR & SFR prices seem to be inline with SC's for domestics...
