Post 944 Cup Race series

I'm currently working on starting a west coast 944 CUP series. THere is an existing race on the east coast. Dave, the man in charge of starting that program, is goingt to work with me on getting it going out here.

My question, how many on this board would join and race? THere are great prizes for every aspect of the race, infact, Anderson Motorworks is sponsoring the existing Cup series with a new slightly hot rodded 2.5 liter NA motor (details can be had at the site listed below.

Is this anything you guys would be interested in? The rules and specs would be the same as the existing club.

What do you think?

Take Care!

Ouch, no 951's?!!! How about an all 944 turbo series instead. Us turbo guys always get squashed by SCCA rules that always favor NA cars.

Sorry :-) But I have to stick with the same rules and bylaws, although a strictly turbo series would be cool too, but for now, I have to stick with the plan.

Bahh! No 968's that is not cool! I want to race I will just by the 944 stickers for the race...Like the Wolf in sheeps clothing I guess. ha ha I would race though even if it is not for points or anything. I think you should be more open minded you would get a greater response.

John,
There is another 944 series.
http:// 944-spec.com
I believe that there are around 16 race cars in Phx, Az.
This is thru NASA similar as the CUP series in Virginia.
Are you using the Virginia Cup rules? Cause I thought the motor had to be stock? We can pay a fee to impound cheaters in AZ!

What kind of mods on the slightly mod'd 944??? How much hp at the wheels. I am looking for a improvement on my early 944 DME. Any suggestions?
Here is my website with my 944 spec racer.

Paul, that class looks like fun. The rules seem to be well written to keep the cost down. I might consider a similar series in California.

The PCA stock class rules seem to encourage spending $5,000+++ on suspension and wheels.

I don't know anything about the early DME's. If the wiring is the same (don't think it is) you could pick up a late model DME off ebay for cheap and use a chaip. With those rules, you definitely want mapping with a lot of advance so that you can get a benefit from using 100+ octane race gas.

Yes, it is alot of fun. My concern is that everyone sticks to the rules. I will gladly pay a impound fee on any car that is suspect. Most of the cars are pretty similar w/WHP and with a minimum weight of 2600lbs w/driver.

Paul,

Check with FR Wilk, he sells adaptor boards for the early DMEs which allow the use of custom chips (EPROMS).

Good luck!

HI everyone :-)

I'll be posting updates to the series as we get closer, but its going to happen.

Sorry aboput any model P cars that arent allowed, but I have to stick with the rules that are already set forth in the series.

It will be the "Anderson Motorworks 944 Cup Series" when all is said and done.

It will be a great way to get your 944's out, win some great stuff for your cars, and sharpen your driving skills.

Take Care.

John,
I tried your link and couldn't find any info on your 944 motor? What's the RWHP? What mods?
Verve3,
FR Wilk has been very helpful! However I am always looking for more options within the rules.
