how will a dansk exhaust sound without a cat on a n/a (924s)
i need a new cat back as mine looks very rough and i also have a poorly installed cat by the previous owner.
here are the two options i am looking at:
1. dansk cat back + test pipe
2. dansk cat back + dansk intermediate pipe
here is what i want:
1 .cost effective
2. porsche tone (not honda)
3. a little louder would be ok
here are my questions:
1. how will these options sound?
2. any benefit to one over the other?
3. does the intermediate pipe require welding?
4. will there be a performance gain/loss?
5. would i see any benefit to using the s2 cat back/would it fit?

Would sound AWESOME.... do it...
performance wise, better exhaust flow can't possibly be a bad thing... just the dansk muffler by itself helps and sounds great... I should know I have them on both my cars...

will the s2 cat back bolt up? (it looks like its bigger)
should i do an intermediate pipe or just make a test pipe?

buy the muffler, try it out, and see if it fits, if not make a test pipe to make it fit...
there really is no good option for a stock replacement, other than the dansk... the polished stainless looks great, and they sound great... not honda definite Porsche..

alright, i think im going to order a 944s2 cat back to gain from the larger tubing, and the extra resonator should help smooth the tone out after the cat is removed.
if anybody thinks i will regret this, let me know.
is anybody 100% sure the 944 and 944s2 flanges are the same?

talked to dansk this morning and 944 and 944s2 systems are both 2.25in and the flange is different. sounds like theres no real power benefit to the 2.5in anyway and at half of the SFR price why not!

If your stock piece just looks rough, but is OK other wise, you might consider what I did: drop the cat back, clean up and repaint with the proper stuff (I used VHT), polish the chrome tip and re-install. The whole affair took an afternoon and cost $10-15. Still looks good months later.

you might want to consider Lindsey Racing's 3" system. I have it on my car (with MSDS headers) and while its significantly louder than factory, it sounds pretty sweet. It's not stainless, but it is alumized steel, so it shouldn't rust (mine's only been on a couple months, so no comment with that yet, but I hope for the best). I have a cat and a Magnaflow muffler on my system

i cant help but think a 3in system would have a tremendous loss of low end torque and be much too loud for a car thats used on the street. i did look at it, but a brand new, high quality, stainless cat back for $325 seemed like the best route for my car.
