Angry Removing Taillights and License Plate Lights, Help!

I thought it would be easy to take the taillights out... I took the light assembly off and removed about 5 nuts that were holding the lenses on. But it won't come off! I don't see any other thing holding it on unless the lenses are glued in really good. Does anyone know how to take the lenses out?
On a similar note, I can't figure out how to take the license plate lenses out either... It almost looks like they're riveted to the body of the car, but that doesn't make sense, how would you ever be able to replace them?
I trust at least one of you will know how to get these out

do a search...it's been talked about before.

PS - believe it's the caulk (black stuff) that's probably holding in the taillights.

Black goo for waterproofing and especially for keeping exhaust fumes out of the cabin. Holds on tight. Be sure you replace it when reinstalling. Easy to find at any auto glass shop.

It's butyl rubber sealant. NAPA sells it too. Don't use RTV!

What about the license plate lights? I still need to know how to get those out! Thanks for help about the rear tail lights, I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

I'll take a look at mine here in a little while. Shouldn't be too complicated.

They're more complicated than I thought... I cut my finger trying to get it out on when a plastic piece broke.

Did you get the tail lights off? There are 6 bolts holding each one on. Than there is the old dried black clauk sealant.

Go slow and take your time so you do not to crack the plastic lens pulling them off.

I checked my License plate lights. Mine may have been changed before, but the bolts all look OE. Looks like you just undo 2 bolts/nuts on each one and pull inside the car.

I just figured it out... it was almost like the license plate was glued in there, but I finally got it out, and with effort I got out the lights. Thanks for your help.
