Post Console Tray with Lid

This question I am sure has been asked numerous times before. I performed a search, but was unable to locate any matches. I am looking to purchase a console tray with lid for my 944S. I have the tweeks catalog, they only sell "without lid" and I have also checked paragon, they sell without lid too. Does anyone know where I can purchase one with a lid to replace my rather ratty-looking/sticky/broken console tray? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thanks guys

Two suggestions:
1)Try a dismantler
2)Order from Porsche.

Thumbs up

Try Pelican Parts, a little expensive but it looks like they may have what you need.

Pam,

I priced the lid at a dealer and it was about $125.00. Go to a salvage yard or do what I did: get some vinyl and recover it by glueing it on yourself...

I recovered my lid in leather with minimal effort - the OEM covering was fairly easy to remove. You may be able to use a filler such as bondo or liquid wood to repair any damage to the hard foam.

I got my frame from Paragon.

I'm planning on replacing my ratty one with one of the ones from Prestige in the UK that has a tray and built in cup holder. Check their website at:

Still cheaper than from the dealer!

Guys, guys, guys... Have you tried looking at Ian's new website??? 944online.com! He's got a new kit selling the lid and the hinge tray in newly recovered leather for $90.00 . I have no connections with him, but I have seen the lid in person since I have purchased parts with him and he's local to me. Wahine, it seems like a good buy! The material he uses (don't remember if it's leather...) feels better and softer to the touch than OEM!

My car was broken in to a few weeks ago and someone actually stole my console. Nothing else taken, not the stereo, not the radar detector, just the friggin center console. I've been expecting to find it in pieces in the road since. Haven't - I guess it was another 944 owner...Sad day...
Maybe you can find that guy and take my old one from him!

Pamela,

Try partsheaven.com for a good used one. They've been really friendly, and the prices have been reasonable.

Ebay has them pretty often. Here's one right now. Take the tray and sell the rest or keep it for spares.

Dogpen2 is the high bidder. How high can he go with a name like that?

Does anyone know of a conversion for this console to turn it into say a CD box and cup holder? I don't even have cassettes anymore and the space it occupies there is only to hold my arm on. Any conversions for this area?

Prestige (see my link in earlier post) has the cup conversion for the center console and a cd holder for the space below the radio (currently filled with junk in my car)...

If I can recover from my mechanical ills I plan on ordering both for my car...

That cup holder looks okay- one of the best I've seen yet, but, since the lid is completely removed, as opposed to having the cup holder (or better yet, two of them) UNDERNEATH, so you could still use the armrest comfortably, etc, then I doubt I'd want it. I REALLY want someone to make some cup holders in the dash door- like the pre-air bag ones had, only they could make them much deeper- it really shouldn't be difficult at all for someone who knows what they're doing. Then, they could make a minor adjustment for them to work in the air-bag glove box, since it's ~1/8" narrower- no one's offered yet- maybe I'll repost the idea....
