california cat. converter fine?
hey whuts up everyone
my catalytic converter crapped out on me and broke on the inside leading to severe rattling and potential disaster of mah car, since i needed my car to get to school i 10 dollared it with straight pipe. I was wondering since i dont have to get my car smogged for another 2 years or so, how much the fine would be if i got caught w/o a cat. This is for those california drivers and you all know how ****ty the laws are here.

I had the same Idea of putting a straight pipe. When i told the guy thats what i wanted he suggested blowing out the old one and reinstalling. Dont do it its a wast of time POS was rattling 3 days later. I was thinking of running a pipe straight through the old cat. <img border="0" alt="[king]" title="" src="graemlins/r.gif" />

It's a $2500 fine according to dynamax's website. Not even remotely worth it if you ask me. If you don't want to buy a new one you could probably buy a used one for $50 and bolt it on yourself.

hey thats sounds like a good idea, yet the last thing i want is the rattling. Its bad enough that at times before 3000rpm, its a little ricey out of the exhaust.
