Default 924 Concept Drawing

This was in a you tube video which is sort of a 924-944 history slideshow with really bad music (LINK). I'd never seen it before, but I assume it's a concept drawing for the 924...

It looks French, no wonder Porsche dumped it.

First off - a kiwi! Kia ora!

Second - I believe the story goes that as a VW concept the car was rounded as pictured above - later the flared / folded paper design was brought in as a tip of the hat to the '80s vogue (audi quattro, lancia delta, bmw e30 m3, etc). Tony Lapine at some stage presented a car with one side smooth as above, and the other side with some folds, like the 944. The powers that be said they liked the folds better, and so it was. That shape became the carrera gtr / 944 shape.

It was a strange move at the time because the (arguably, flagship) 928 was a smooth shape, and the smoothness had always been a porsche hallmark up until that point. Well, maybe not some of the racers - e.g. the "kanguruh".

Interestingly they reverted post - 944, back to the lozenge shape with the 968.

But that's the first time I've seen that orange car. Strangely not bad - but it's impossible to look at the back end without thinking that someone somewhere was doing it wrong.

I think the colour and the shiny doorhandles are really neat

Ah, y'kno cuz!

Mt Eden here - good to hear from someone out there. I've been in contact with a few like-minded watercooler enthusiasts but mostly via TradeMe etc. Not many of us here. I'll flick you a PM later - but got a flight in the morning, so got to get some shuteye.

I was think it looked more like this Pininfarina design of the Ferrari Daytona.
