Smile Fuel Grade for lo-comp n/a

I typically run mid-grade fuel (89 octane) in my CRX Si. I know in a lot of cases it's pointless to run premium unless the particular motor (high compression or boosted) requires it. I use Chevron Fuel System Cleaner every other oil change. What have been people's experience on the low compression (non-S n/a) 944s.

It is always pointless to run higher octane than required by the engine.
If a engine is not having problems with a certain octane fuel there is no point in using higher octane fuel unless you do some tuning to the engine.
