Post OT: V-Day.. :D

I have an awesome girlfriend dangit! She went out of her way to find something really cool and unique as a gift - she bought me a German license plate for the front of my P-car (Georgia doesn't require front plates so we can run whatever up front). Of course, the one she bought is just a temp thing because she's buying me a custom made plate (not authentic, obviously) that says anything on it - so I'm thinking "GMBH 951" or something along those lines.

On top of that, when I walked in last night after work, she was nose-deep in my current Excellence. LMAO!! You just can't beat this... and yes, I know I suck.

Problem is, I have NO idea what the heck I can do/give (for this Friday) that will even come close to making the same impact on her as she made on me. Any romantics out there have suggestions? And an engagement ring is already in the works so don't worry about that (or try to steal her.. muuuhaha).

Hey Brian - try this: go to the store and buy a couple sheets of sparkly valentines stickers or something like that and some post it notes. Then on Thursday and/or Friday when she isn't looking put the heart stickers and post it notes (with nice little love blurbs written on them) everywhere she might look during the course of the day. ie - closet, make-up box, doors, fridge or pantry, car windshield, purse, etc (maybe in your case inside excellence - worked great with my wife!!

get a bunch of rose petals and leave a trail from the front door to you standing with flowers and her favorite candy or something, relatively cheap, and the womenfolk seem to love it, worked last year on my girlfriend, but ive gotta think of something else this year...

One year my fiance knocked it out of the park. I came home to my apartment to find a table set for two in my living room, candles, and a mixed tape of appropriate music playing in the background. There was a red piece of fabric hanging from the ceiling to the floor to partion a dining area in my living room (we're married in a house now, but remember this was my apartment). I sat down to some wine and an exquisite custom menu. Turns out she had hired a chef, who was in my kitchen making beef wellington for us! (among other courses). It was awesome. She had to call a ton of places before she found one that would do it for a decent price (two hundred something as I recall).

For her one year I blew up 500 balloons (literally) and filled her bedroom. She was quite surprised. My friend that helped me blow up all the balloons bagged them up and recylced the idea with his girlfriend! She was away at a swim meet so they celebrated a day late. He even took full credit for my idea!! I was glad to help though.

Back in school my best friend and I did a pretty cool double Valentine's day date. We got a pledge to dress up in my ill-fitting high school tux and go pick up the girls and blindfold them. He brought them to the lake where we had a pontoon boat (borrowed from a friend) decorated for the occasion. Red fabric over the seats, balloons everywhere, iced champagne in a bucket, roses....you get the idea. Oh we even cheesed out and had 'The Love Boat' written in posterboard on the front! We went on an evening cruise, grilled some steaks, and sipped on some adult beverages. I shall refrain from discussing the spoils of our labor.

There's many more, but this year I am more or less drawing a blank. Let's keep the ideas flowing...because a happy mate is more likely to look the other way when we spend $$ on our P cars!

First time ever celebrating Valentine's Day here with a girlfriend for me Previous years I've always lost them before Valentine's Day...I'm hoping mine's a keeper. Dunno if getting her Pretty Woman on DVD, a dozen roses and a box of See's Truffles is good enough or not....i'm in the same boat as you

This year, I am going with the "Day Spa" idea, as she just commented the other day how a mud bath would feel "sooo good". Women are strange creatures, eh? If I told her I wanted to wallow around in some mud, I can imagine the reaction I would get. (No offense intended to the gals reading this...)

Regards,

In a word: massage. I'd give my kingdom for a wonderful massage. And I mean the professional kind, not a backrub from your beau. Not that a backrub/massage is a bad thing. But I had a friend going through massage school and gave me a massage as a Christmas gift. It was heaven

With breakfast, multiple massages, aromatherapy, parafin something another on the feet and hands, champagne lunch, wrap (what the hell that does I don't know) makeup and some other french crap that I have no idea what it does or is.

I hope it pays off! The car's getting close to being done and I'm thinking S4 brakes, and weltmeister sways, are in my next 1 year future.

I will take it easy on her... untill she warms up, that is. She never talks back or argues either.

The last thing I did for a Valentines day almost got me molested by a mob of women. At the factory I worked at three years ago there was a girl I really liked, and the factory was selling carnations. So I bought her 23 white carnations, and a red one. I wrote on a card "this is the way you stick out in my mind". You could do that, but thats where my courage ended when I did it. I had an older Female coworker give them to the girl "from a secret admirer". I was unprepared for the events that unfolded. A mob of women quickly gathered to coo over the romantic gift Idea I stumbled upon. I had to sneak out the back door, or my face would have given me away. It got worse with every day, this flock of women would always gather by her locker at clock out time and ask her if she knew who "he" was yet. I finally spoke with her but we never had a chance to go out because I got the job offer from where I'm currently working... bleh...

Another Idea would be to buy her boring practical gift like a used drier etc... but secretly put a really nice "$" piece of jewelry and a note in the screen or something. When she gets upset that you got her a drier for valentines day, tell her that you got her some lint too...

Keep the ideas comming fellas, we all can use a few more ideas to keep for years to come.
