car revs to redline on startup, without me hitting gas

After removing the intake manifold and a bunch of other stuff to fix an oil leak near the turbo I have a big problem. When I start after the engine catches it revs to redline automatically. It did not do this two days ago. I have the guru stage one kit if this helps. What could the problem be? A forgotten vacuum hose connection?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Could your throttle valve be stuck open? The fuel should cut out at a couple thousand revs if the TPS is in the idle position (on NA cars anyway, turbo folks please correct!).
You probably forgot to connect a hose from the underside of the manifold to the brake booster, but... man, that would have to be a MAJOR vac leak to go to redline!
FWIW, HTH... <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

thanks john, the mechanical part of the throttle wire/etc was the first thing I checked. It seems to be ok, so I am guessing an electronic or vac problem. I will take a closer look in daylight and update one whats going on.

Have you checked the throttle-plate itself by taking off the intercooler and having a look? Common problem is the grommet that the throttle-cable goes through at the firewall can get caught up on the firewall and pull on the cable.

I fixed the problem in two seconds today, thanks everyone for the help. The heat shield to the left of the intake manifold was interfering with the postition of the throttle cable, causing it to be wide open at all times. She runs perfectly now, I am getting it registered tomorrow. I cant wait. Thanks everyone!
