The smaller engine and lack of cup holders.
If I had the cash, I'd still buy it, I think. I don't see how they can de-value any more than that in the next few years.

Whoa... 15k. Mighty tempting for a convertible.
Lessee, trade the 951 for 10, come up with 5 hard, have a slower (albeit flashier) car.
Naaaaah. I can live without flashy.

actually, some of the 97s did have cup holders. they were flimsy, and broke often, so were discountinued some time in the 98 MY (IIRC). The biggest bummer is that the 97 did not have side air bags, and only had 2 yr warranty (the 2000+ had 4 yrs I think).
And btw, C$29,800 is US$20,037 at todays exchange rate
At much below $20k, it may be time for me to get out of the penalty box and back into a p-car. My wife liked my 98 boxster I used to have...hmmmm

I'd rather have a nice 968, too! The Boxster is a beautiful car, but they sort of got lost in the whole Boxster, SLK, Z3 race and people (outside Porsche circles) consider them a glorified Miata. I've had 2 of them and they handle great, sound incredible and look amazing. For $18,500, I don't know of a better way to spend your money! But when you get ready to sell/trade it you are in for another shock!

IMHO a mid teens boxster with upgraded after mkt suspension, track tires, and maybe upgraded brakes makes a great, bullet-proof, relatively cheap track car. If you are short enough for your helmet to have clearance below the roll bar (I'm not).
I gotta believe the boxsters are nearing their terminal (floor) value, and that a nice, fairly low mileage (<50k ?) wont see much more depreciation if you buy the car in the mid to high teens. I don't think I'd want to be trying to sell a boxster with 110k miles on it though....the market for that has got to be non-existant right now.
