I want to do components in the front and rear of my car, ala late model 928... Is this a bad idea?
I figure a tweeter and woofer in each factory location (more or less - I would have seperate grilles for each, like the 928 package) and a single 12" sub stealthed in a flat aircraft aluminum panel over the rear seat wells (like the one the fellow was selling on the Forums a few weeks back)

Are the components a silly idea auditorily?

Is auditorily a Scrabble-legal word?

SM I think I have the photo thing figured out. Here is the photo of my Nakamichi component speakers. The crossovers are just about as big as the speakers but are under the dash so no pictures. As I said my whole system is nakamichi. Its expensive but the sound quaity and look was worth it.

I've also got the Polk 4" components in my doors. I chose to mount the tweeter flush in the panel about where the tweeters are for the factory 10 speaker setup.

Dan - I recently took delivery of one of Scott Levy's sub enclosures for the passenger side cubby. It'll be a couple weeks before I have time to put it in the car but I'm very impressed with the workmanship.

Nope. Maybe just put tweeters up front and not in the rear.

Aluminum panel will resonate terribly. It'll sound awful. Gotta use wood or thick fiberglass. Acutally, concrete is the best for woofer enclosures. Probably don't want that in the 928, though......

Scott - I may have mis-spoken - I am referring to aircraft decking, a corrugated aluminum decking (like cardboard). Very light, very rigid.

I don't think it will resonate. - or will it?

I have to source the stuff first, and find out I suppose...

What do you think?

I know that stuff. It'll still resonate, not anywhere near as bad as straight alum. Might be ok if you put a couple layers of Dynamat on the back of it. Hard to say without trying it.

Anyone got the new address for "slevy6"?
It was the source for sub enclosures that fit in the 944's rear cubbies
thanks

The MB Quart definitly did not fit in my 85.5.I have a pair in the garage to prove it!Im told they will fit in the back.I took plate 4x6 speakers apart and made my own plate .See my thread

If you dont want to cut the doors this is a good way to go,if you do want to cut and place the tweeter up higher,go with seperates like Perry.Thats about all the options, other than a 4x6 oval like pioneer.

Midwest USA has good refurbished/new Blaupunkt stuff, it has a 1 year warranty as well. I'm getting 4 speakers and a deck for like 175 bucks. Pretty good.
