Default Weltmeister spring plate bushing install ?s

I am redoing my entire rear suspension.

I got all the bushings off the spring plates. Cleaned them up very well.

Putting the weltmeister bushings on, they are pretty snug, like have to hit with a rubber mallet snug. Especially when you fit the spring plate into the torsion tube, or the carrioer onto the spring plate.

Should I just hammer away to get them fitted? Or, should I sand them down a bit?

I searched, but didn't find anyone posting about the same thing.

Some pics here, kevingosselin.blogspot.com if you care.

Mine were fairly snug and required the bolts to get them to seat all the way.

schwank, that's the feedback I'm looking for. If you have had no issues with binding or anything, then I'll press them on.

Anyone else?

I've got the Weltmeisters as well, pressed on using the bolts like Schwank. I've got no binding, but the passenger side squeaked like crazy for about 400km's after install. Then one day, it just stopped squeaking...

Did you lube them with anything prior to install? The goo available from Welmeister or Energy Suspension helps.

I lubed mine up with white lithium grease, same as I do with all my delrin bushings, and no squeaks.

Default Weltmeister spring plate bushes

Hi,

I have recently removed my torsion bar carrier tube for refurbishing on my 924S. I recocknised that the spring plates were not moveable even with the torsion bars removed.
I bought the Weltmeister bushes and what happend? The same. I read recently that the spring plates must move particular with the coil over conversion...

Anyone with ideas??

Many thanks in advance...

Mike

What happened was, I was overtightening the carrier plate bolts. I backed off a 1/4 turn and they move fine now. No binding. Smooth movement.

I installed the Welt´s bushings on my car. Cleaned the surface and greased it plenty.

The fit is so snug that the spring plate hardly moves, only with a hammer they turn arround inside the carrier. The 4 bolts on the carrier supports are tighten fully, unless they are left loose cant see how the movement can be improved.....no way they can move by hand.

Its like the rear arms are blocked in place!

Does this affect the suspension, or will it loosen with use? Is this normal?

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. The spring plate is supposed to move up and down freely so the wheel can move when it hits bumps, compresses/ extends for cornering, etc.
