Thumbs down Buyer Beware

Buyer Beware !!!

jbellent@aol.com aka John aka Joseph Belluci

This guy has taken my money and not delivered.

I was high bidder on ebay for a porsche airbag, but it didn't meet the sellers reserve. I then contacted him directly via e-mail to set-up a direct purchase at his named price.

This guy received my money via Paypal on 12/30/02.

Several days later and still no response, I sent him an e-mail to see if he had received payment. He said he had and would ship immediately.

Over the next two weeks and many unanswered e-mails I tracked down this guys phone #. After leaving a message stating my displeasure, I incredibly received an e-mail (1/14/03) with an apology and excuse for the delay with assurance that the airbag would be shipped the next morning.

Still no airbag and no communication!

Don't do business with this guy!

If anyone else has had a negative experience with this guy please let me know.

File a fraud claim with Ebay and PayPal ASAP. There are time limits to file claims and I think it is only 30 days with PayPal.

Unrelated... if you guys need any standard stuff (hose clamps, drills, tools) check out Autopartsmart on ebay. He's got some good auctions and ships real quick. I buy stuff from him on a regular basis (off ebay) and he always treats me good. High quality stuff also.
Nothing Porsche spisific but good stuff.

Not to defend the guy (he should NOT have taken your money without shipping nor promised something he could not deliver), but shipping an airbag might be difficult if you had to send via UPS or some other service, I mean they are EXPLOSIVE devices and all....Just a thought.

FYI, Mr. Belluci is a lawyer. You have a lot of rights in this situation, but be aware.

Riff raises a good point. I'm sure he couldn't ship it by air at all, but you could have had it by pack mule in the length of time your giving. But I see that Joe has removed his post, so I'm hoping that means he got his bag.

I would not do a deal off e-bay if I didn't know the guy or have a pretty good feeling. They don't have to worry about negative feedback. If he's a lawyer, chances are he's just too busy to get to it. Stay polite and keep the pressure on. After a couple of months you can go balistic.

Thanks to everyone for their input.

Mr. Bellusci telephoned me this afternoon, shortly after e-mailing him a link to this thread (coincidence?).

Anyway, he apologized again, and offered to send out the airbag and refund my money as well. Though a generous offer, I asked him to simply ship the item I paid for.

The post I deleted was a follow-up to my original. More or less trying to let this guy know that I'm not just going to sit back and be screwed over. It was a little over the top and could have been perceived as threatening. That was not my intention, my intention was to let this gentlemen know that I'm more than willing to go to the wall to fight for my rights in this transaction, including showing up on his doorstep and kindly asking for my cash to be returned.

I know others here have done business with this guy without problems, hopefully this was an isolated example of poor business that will not be repeated.

Once my transaction is completed I will post here.

I don't want to hurt this guy's business if he is legitimate, but I do think it's important for others to know of less than stellar transactions.

I'm giving Mr. Bellusci the benefit of the doubt, for now <img border="0" alt="[icon501]" title="" src="graemlins/icon501.gif" />

I hope that Mr. Bellusci is a man of his word, as we all should stride to be.
