PRESS RELEASE: Porsche Making an Economy Car!!!
#2
Wow, that's a very... uhm... informative PR. Who would have though they would partner with someone like Kia, sign me up!
Seriously though, I wish porsche would work with VW/Audi to put out a cheap 2 seat, lightweight midengine car with a porsche tuned 1.8T engine. Sorta like a 35th anniversary 914.

I can see it now:
small mid engine coupe
190 hp 2.0 liter flat 4 cylinder engine
No abs, airbag, psm, power windows, etc.
1500 lbs
$25,000
I'd buy it in a heartbeat. That's what the Boxster should have been.

Sounds enough like an Elise that I know I would want one too. I read somewhere that the Elise is coming to the US in a street legal version some time in the next couple years. I need to start saving my pennies now.

After making that post, I decided to call the local Lotus dealer to get on the waiting list for the Elise. I thought that might be the way to avoid what would probably be severe markups. They are not taking deposits yet, but they put my name on a list. Now, I just need to make the financial side happen between now and late '03 when the car will supposively be available.

I saw two of those leaving Laguna Beach on the 133 canyon a few weekends ago... I thought they were so wierd I had never seen the car. I thought that was what I saw but was not sure...But now looking at the new elise that is exactly what I saw.

Did they say if the price is the same as it is now? You can walk into a lotus dealer and get one for "track only use" right now. Park Place Ltd. up here has a few, but they want something like $60k for a plain elise, and more for a Sport 190 or a GTS-R
This bad mother right here is enough to send me into fits of hysteria:
and the yellow one is just really awesome. I have a 1:18 model of this exact car.
Good god those are sexy cars. And it makes you think about how much horsepower you really need when 190 is enough to whup *** on just about everything at the track. I guess if I could get my 944 down to something like 1200 lbs it would be that quick too!

Unfortunately the ones coming the U.S. won't have the composite rotors The one that was in the Open Track Challenge was kicking some serious butt! So was its cousin, the 340R.
