Unhappy Need Help car won't stay running

Damn thing died on me today, Less than a 1/4 a mile from my house. doesn't start unless you let it sit for about 5 min. Then try to start it, but it only runs for like 3 seconds then cuts off. Has anyone heard of this? And if so what was the cause?

Thanks

There are other possibilities, but when was the fuel filter last changed???? Also check the seating of all the relays in the fuse box....

Jim, "Round up the usual suspects...."

Thanks jim, not sure when it was last changed. I've owned it for 3 years, I haven't changed it, I'll do that first. I checked all the relays already.

If you have done the normal guy thing and run the gas tank real low recently the fuel filter is a pretty safe bet. All the accumulated crud that was in the tank is now in the filter.

Happened to me, died on the freeway, then only ran for 10 seconds before it died.

Unplug one injector and see if it works better (it will run rough, but see if it doesn't die) if that works, it's likely your fuel pressure regulator, that fixed my problem.

Check the connection to air flow meter next to the air filter. I forgot to plug that thing in before, the car fires but stops. If you have a bad connection, that would do the trick.

Thanks.

Cool. I got the same advice from Skip when it happened to me, worked out great. I ordered an FPR from paragon, got it the next day, replaced it in an hour or so, and it's been great. www.paragon-products.com, they come highly recommended by lots of people on rennlist.
