i hear the Cayman has the best platform to race with? I remember hearing something about the porsche racing team making a race car with it but Porsche immediatly sent them a 911 and asked to hault the cayman for fear of what you stated above. Intersting stuff if true

In the right hands, a rear engine has advantages on the track over a mid-engine. Porsche wants to remain competetive and has dumped a ton of development into the 911. I am not so sure it's an entirely profit-driven decision. The 911 chassis can still do wonders on the track.
