Default newb muffler question

shopping around for a muffler to weld onto my 924S, there is some rattling and a little lull in power so its time to look at a new muffler

i have heard 2.5 inch and 2.25 inch, which is better?

borla and flowmaster seem to be the fastest? are there also other stainless options that are still decent?

if anyone has some links that would help a lot also. the guy who did some work for me recently also said something about a 60mm ID tube, whats that all about.

sorry for the newb questions, but i appreciate the good responses when i do post. much better than the ocean of random facts that is google
