Default S2 Cab rollbar

Good Morning,
Does anyone make a bolt in rollbar for an S2 Cab? I would rather not weld one in, but I will if needed. Where should I start looking? Any help would be a big help. Thanks! - Jay

I have an autopower bolt in roll bar and I am very happy with it. You will need to cut into the rear pannel though, and drill through the floor. I am currently working on cleaning it up with some dark blue vinyl.

I also remember a company in Pennsylvania, Stable Energies I believe, that made one that would bolt in using the seat belt bolts.

I always thought of getting one for my car but didn't because it renders the back seats useless.

I have seen that one (or similar type) at Hershey on a 968. It is much cleaner and there is no drilling required; however, I don't think they sell it as a roll bar but rather a harness bar. I also don't think that it would hold up in an actual roll over and I know its not approved for PCA Potomac events. If you are looking for a bar just as a harness bar or if you want the looks it's the best way to go clean and won't mess up your interior. If you want protection and are going to track you need to get one like the Autopower that is securley mounted to the vehicle.

There's a 968 guy (non-rennlister who is not very welcomed here anymore -- see this warning) who custom makes a rollbar designed specifically for the 968 cab (which I think is the same dimension as the s2cab, except for the lack of rear seats). He calls it a "chassis brace" because he won't call it a rollbar for liability purposes.

He often works with RS Barn in Pennsylvania to distribute his goods -- rather than Stable Energies (they are in New Jersey).

I would be using the car on the track, so it would have to be safe. Looks are 2nd on the list to being safe.

Sounds like a good plan to go with a company that makes roll bars full time and is willing to call it that. And what about Redline?

Jay, I got a good deal on my Autopower bar from OG racing, they were getting rid of in stock items, you may want to see if they have anymore. Good luck and I agree with you. I hated to tear up my interior but I was more concerned with protecting my mellon.

The top of the windshield frame was designed to be a hard rollover point for the S2 and 968 cabs-but I've seen a rolled 968 whose windshield frame didn't hold up . . . when I can find the image I'll post it here.

check out 968forums.com, there's a guy on there making bolt-in roll bars for coupes and cabrios. Otherwise, I've seen the Safety devices unit that Stable Energies sells for hardtops and its very nice, but requires drilling/welding

Thank you all! Now I just need to land the car.

What does an S2 Cab tip the scales at?

It's a heavy one...almost 3100 pounds on paper so figure 3200 with a full tank and "extra" stuff.

3100 isn't as bad as I thought. I thought it would be coming in around 3300-3400. What does a couple S2 come in at?
