Default quick suspension question (coilovers in early car?)

I was asking Ground Control and they seem to have some issue with a coilover kit for an early car - about mounting it

so one thing that they said might work is - swaping the trailing arm for a late style one - and then geting a late style rear coilover kit, and a front kit that works for the early car

question: what else is involved in this? what will this do to the rear suspension of the car/brakes/wheels? if its too much then I'll just wait and do torsion bars at some point in time

just wondering, thanks

The problem in the rear is getting the spring perches to clear the lower shock mount.

what would be the solution? late trailing arm would solve the issue or wait untill it's done "proper"

You may be able to fit the coil over the normal way around (i.e. not upside down). Is not optimal but it may solve the problem in a easy way. As far as I know coil over kits for the rear that are made to sit in a conventional way fit early and late style trailing arms.
