Default Head Case

I ended up with a 944 cylinder head P/N 944.104.310.2R as part of a deal to buy a 968 motor a few years back. It's stripped and bead-blasted. What head is this and what's it worth? Thanks - JM

From the looks of the front coolant passage, it appears to be the much-coveted 2.7 1989 head -- useful in making turbos out of 104mm blocks. If you take a better picture of the coolant passage I can confirm. If that's what you have, they were selling for over $1000 before the economy fell apart.

yep, that's the e-ticket -- '89 2.7 head. Note the oval-shaped intake runners and the one-bolt coolant passage. You scored!

Tom - Thanks for your help. I got it from John Milledge, it was part of an (ultimately unfunded) project he was doing for a customer. The 968 3.0 engine + this head is apparently the hot setup. If you know someone that is interested in buying it, let me know. I recently sold my 968 club racer and bought a 2002 996, so it needs to go to a good home. Thanks again. >Jeff M
