Somewhere in there, sways can get so big that they keep the independant susp from doing it's job, which is what it sounds like the M3 guy is saying- this is what happens when the two sides are connected so stiffly that the inside just comes off the ground when cornering hard. Anyway, I can't offer any personal advice or experience, BUT, I DO remember reading Lindsey Racing's project car page a LONG time ago. They were removing weight and had gone up to the 968 M030 sways I believe. Somewhere in there, they had removed a good bit of weight- I think it was somewhere in the 300-400lb range, and they went to stiffer sways. They found that it INCREASED their lap times. They decided to go BACK to the 968 M030 (I'm pretty sure it was the 968- COULD have been 951 M030 though) b/c the reduction of weight made it so that a stiffer sway was just TOO stiff. I'm pretty sure it's still on their web site if you want to check it out. Personally, I plan to go to 968 M030's for my Turbo S IF I can ever get caught up financially from what the car's already been costing me lately...

I just recently went to the Turbo S bars. 26.8mm front and 18mm rear. I was comparing my car to another 944 that has the weltmeister setup and it was just as flat through the slalomn as his.
