95/102 Fan Switch - Anyone else use them?

Doing some p-car work last night and noticed that my fan switch is marked 95/102deg, much higher than stock.
The car runs fine, temp gauge always between 1/3 and 1/2, fans operate just as the needle tries to get past the 1/2 mark.
This has always been a FL car so I am thinking the po didn't want the fans coming on all the time. Works well, wondering if anyone else runs such a high temp switch?

I put in what i think is the stock range switch which is 92/102 and did not really like it. The switch on my car crapped out and my friend was able to get me the 92/102 within 30 minutes or so on a friday afternoon with his WorldPac account, that with a track day the following day and i was in a bind. I used to have the 85/93 before that. With the 92/102, i was seeing 10-15 degree higher water temps, higher oil temps and was just not liking how high the temp gauge was going (just before 3rd line before high speed fans cooled it down).
With the 85/93, the stock temp gauge never goes past the 1/2 mark even sitting in heavy traffic. On track and on the highway there was no difference, but if you do any driving in traffic with warm temps (im in NYC area.. so it gets warm but probably not nearly as warm as Florida), i would put a 85/93 in at the least.

I've considered it, but I fixed mine the right way. I still wouldn't mind putting in a backup in case something goes bad again (like the damn $110 relay).

I wanted to hook up an external switch for my n/a. Also an indicator light for when the fans turned on would have been nice. Sitting in staging on a humid, 90 degree day at an auto-x causes some exceptionally high temperatures. I used to see 230 degrees sitting in staging and once was at 240 degree oil temps on my n/a with that tiny water / oil heat exchanger. Those short ~1 minute runs to do nothing for cooling the car off!

1. The 80 thermo with the 85/93 switch is the stock configuration. Correct?
2. I have also seen 71 thermo and 75/83 switch combo.
3. And the set-up I have 85 thermo and 95/102 switch.
Set-up 2 is for hotter climates which would mean that what I have (set-up 3) is for cooler climates, though I cannot see why, can someoen explain?
I would have thought that the higher thermo/switch combo would work better in hotter climates as it would stop the fans constantly cycling on.
What is wrong with my thinking?

I guess I'm the one confused and not remembering the numbers right, I went with the cooler (lower temp) thermostats/fan switches and never see the creeping temp gauge needle anymore....Bruce
Just happen to still have the boxes, they are 71 thermostat and 85 fan switch.
