I understand,by certified do you mean money order or cashiers check? If I can just pay a paypal invoice with a credit card without signing up for anything, that will be fine too.

Yes, certified funds would be money order, postal money order, or cashiers check.

Well, we're at 6 commits and 6 tentatives for a total of 12 (list updated above), and we're only a few days in, so I'd say the prospects are promising to reach the 20+ plateau. If we have ongoing activity as we approach the 15th, I'd be willing to push things out another day or so if it means getting to the next price break. Tell all your friends!

We're up to 9 confirmations already. Wayne doesn't allow group buy posts on Pelican, and I can't get an ID at Clark's Garage, but if somebody other than me were to make mention of this on those two forums, I'm sure there'd be some interested parties...

I'd be interested in a manual 968 variant as well.

What I'm not sure about is the 89-onward application. It's confusing because it lists the same part number 951.604.101.00 but specifies a 1.4KW rating; also, I don't know what the M198 option is (automatic trans???), but it apparently had different part number and a higher rating. Also fascinating is that the 968 starters are both listed as 944 part numbers.
I'm interesting in a unit for my 90 S2 w/ manual transmission. Any confirmation that this unit would work?

Thanks,

Mike

ideola, while I am not in the market right now (unfortunately- looks like a nice piece but I have other pcar priorities), I want to thank you for doing this for the community. This is the type of thinking where members go out of their way to help the group that make this place such an asset. Hope it all runs smoothly for you and for those who are participating.

are these just a part of group buy or will they be available from their store or something for those that don't get in on the GB right now?

it definetly looks like it could be a good "mod" for those who's starter goes compared to a stock unit
