Search for one epic tale after another of people trying to break that thing loose. You need lots of leverage -- cut a pipe as long as you can fit under the hood and slide it over the biggest breaker bar you have.

Righty tighty, left loosey when you are facing the bolt head. I hope you are using a flywheel lock. I find an 18 inch breaker bar usually works but have had a couple where I needed a longer extension on it. If you remove the radiator and condenser you may be able to get a hefty impact wrench on it...

i've gotten it loose by putting car in gear and rear wheels on the ground with ebrake on, using both sections of the handle for my floor jack on a breaker bar. it takes ALOT of force hehe

I don't think I'd try that if the stock rubber clutch disc is in there.

Impact is the ticket.

even if that was actually a good idea lol, i dont think the engine makes enough torque to break its own bolt loose lol.

the bolt is set at 157ftlbs, and the engine at its torque peak makes 140 ftlbs. lol.

Remember, the engine won't be running yet - it's just the starter. The starter probably makes like 5 ftlbs or something. But yes I agree it's a terrible idea!

So is using the rear wheels / clutch. If you have a rubber clutch, you'll mess it up, and if you have a spring clutch, you'll just exhaust yourself. Use an impact gun (if it even fits) or just buy the $25 flywheel lock. If you're really hurting for cash, you can still use a screwdriver as a flywheel lock if you jam it in the right way.
