Cut the belt and drive. The steering is a little heavy, but acceptable.

Or just spend $250-$350 for a used manual rack, tie rods, and shaft from an '83. The steering effort and feedback is much better than the manualized power rack, and you never have to worry about leaks again.

Mike,
Nice lookig '87 924S.

What do you need to get your current PS working? Autozone sells a rebuilt for our cars with a limited lifetime warranty for less than $200 exchange.

In the EBay ad it shows the old reservoir to pump crooked hose. The crooked part cracks. There is a new straight hose and fitting. The PS reservoir has a filter and you should get a new reservoir.
The PS pump may leak. This is an easy rebuild-30 minutes top and yours is better than used--cheap too. You will need new rack boots to the tie rods. You will most likely need new tie rod ends if you get the EBay PS rack.

The EBay rack may be working properly, but a week after you install, you may/will find ATF Dexron (do not use PS fluid in the Porsche rack!) on your floor because the rack seals are leaking.

IMO

WOW That's a great price.

I just replaced mine with a rebuilt one from APX Auto, I just shipped the core back yesterday. The rack was $243 and I had to get new lines because they were dry rot. The lines were another $260.

You fail at bidding. Why would you bid days before it is over?

there was a high open bid of 150, so i bid that knowing that most potential buyers would see the already high price at such an earlier date and pass. bec lets face it everyone wants something for next to nothing

^^ thats cool of you to offer. thanks, i appreciate it, but im gonna delete the pump and stuff, and just "loop" the hose like i did on the dub. I kinda miss manual steering, i was just thinking that maybe the system on the Porsche required the use of the pump & belt or something

There are only 2 kinds of power steering setup on a 944. Ones that are leaking and ones that are about to leak.
