Default Stripped castor bolt hole

Does anyone know exactly what thread-sert kit works for the castor bolt hole (ie. rear of the front control arm)? It's for a 84 NA if that matters.

Also, is there any special way to keep the die straight when doing it? I've always used a drill press to align things, which obviously isn't an option on the bottom of the car.

Yup, used a time-sert when I stripped mine in 05. I've had that bolt out at least a half dozen times since then and it's still doing fine. You really need something with a shoulder on it so a standard heli coil will not work very well.

Triple A Metric of off santa fe here in town will stock a Timesert kit for that application or at least will be able to get you one . I'm sure they are in the phone book . I think the pitch is 10 x 1.25 , but bring your bolt in to be sure . You don't have to be concerned about getting it strait with a press , cause you will be using your hole as the guide . Basically you drill it out with the supplied bit in the kit and then tap it out with the tap in the kit , then they give you a counter sync bit , and install the insert with a screw tool . Will be much stronger than the factory aluminum threads cause the insert is steal . Usually the tap in the kit are 2 mm bigger than the original , so you will be tapping it to a 12 x 1.25 which is the outer diameter of the sert . The last kit i got there was a little spendy at around 70 $ , but worth every cent .

i had one that had been fixed a couple times before and kept stripping out- welded a stud into the body and put a lock nut on the bottom w/ a washer.
