Smile What to ask for for my birthday

So yesterday was my birthday and I have no idea what I want. I was thinking of getting something to upgrade my 1988 944 n/a. It has about 50,000 miles on it and is is prestine condition. Of thie things listed below what would you guys recoment. Or maybe there is something else you might recomend. All regular maintance is up to date.

1. Braided brake lines.

2. New Spark plug wires

3. Weltmeister performance chip (anyone have any experiences with these? If so please share.)

4. Powerhip Performance chip (anyone have any experiance with these? If so please share)

Thanks guys for your help.

when was the last time the car had a tune-up? brake change? oil change? filter change? if everything is up to date, might as well spend $$$ on the chip

if not, take care of the other things first

I wouldn't use the money on the brake lines or the chip....new wires maybe because my factory wires used to arc and ground out on the block but my new (pretty blue) ones do not. Also they're not that expensive.

Other than that, just hold on to your cash and wait for it to break.

Or go to detailer's domain and order some stuff to make the car shiny. Rennlist members get a 10% discount with the promo code rennlist.

Go to the Perf. & Comp. section of Rennlist and click on the Concours forum for pretty pictures and more info...

I've used both the 951MAX chips and the Vitesse AFM chip - STRONGLY prefer the Vitesse chip. It might have just been my chip/experience but nothing else has changed in my car and with the 951MAX chip my car beat itself to death (detonation) at boost. Put the Vitesse chip in and it runs like a wild horse. When I was dialing it in I spiked at 19PSI and didn't have any problems. John builds the Vitesse chips so that you can use the FQS dial switch on the DME to pick different parameters - so if you add an aftermarket WG, need more fuel in your mixture, add a 3" exhaust, etc... you're covered and don't have to go back and get a new chip or new programming.

Just my .02. I know there are a lot of folks on here that love the 951MAX chip - just didn't work well in my car.

All of the regular maintence you guys have mentioned has been done within that last 2,000 miles thats why I am considering the things listed above.

Thank you for the suggestions and keep them coming.

chionga - does Vitesse make a chip for the n/a?

The OP has an NA...

The MaxHP chip didn't turn my car into a turbo, but its defiantly noticeable. It has more torque down low which you really feel when trying to start out on a steep hill. Idles a little smoother... its all around betterness... I even got a couple more MPG out of it. Well worth the money.

I would like to try the Wilk chip as well to see how or if its different. It gets the same good response on this site as the MaxHp chip. I haven't tried it to compare.

Replacement suspension bushings, cheap, and even with low miles they degrade a lot. New bushings make a car feel like a 5 mile car. A way better investment then a chip if not already done.
