Max your tone is not without merit- Most of us appreciate the 968, but love our cars because they are OURS. I don't see why we all just cant get along as enthusiasts. period. we all appreciate the marque- let it be. WE have to be ambassadors regardless. The PCA here "dont really like watercoolers"- live and learn. My car is paid for.

Whoa, whoa, ease up on us 968 guys. The ONLY reason the hotel is being restricted is that it's a small hotel, and we want all the 968 guys together. If it had 200 rooms then there would be room for all. We're coming in a day early, we've got the dining area and conference rooms paid for on Friday, we're paying for security in the parking lot, etc etc. And we've got guys spending their own time and money to put this thing together to enjoy and advance their knowledge of these cars. I wouldn't be offended if the 944/951 guys did something similar, so why get bent about this?? Please remember, a strong majority of 968 owners also owned 944/951's and loved them too.

Damian,
I'm not ******* you guys out or anything. I was just a little offended that non-968 owners were being excluded from the events taking place sponsered by 968.net. Truly, there are not that many non-968 owners that post on 968.net. However, many of us that do are S2 owners. The only reason that I post on 968.net is due to the large number of parts and accessories that are shared between the 968 and the S2. The 1990 and 1991 models, specifically share almost their entire electrial system with the 968 (alarm/central locking/stereo/convertible top, etc...). If the 968 crowd doesn't want to include anyone else in their events then they should exclude everyone else from posting on their BBS.

I am not angry, just a little insulted. Maybe I am being too sensitive (it would be the first time I was ever accused of being that) but other cabrio owners (968 variety) were more than happy to ask me to copy and mail them the Cabrio Technik manual but we 944 owners don't own a good enough car to participate in any group event with the 968 guys.

Best Regards, Max

To echo what Damian said, I think is a matter of space limitations, nothing more. And I am pretty sure the last thing anyone who meets me is going to think is "Snob!" lol I love my '84 944 as much as I do my 968, if not perhaps a little more, since it was my first Porsche.

Why don't we do one of two things... either ask the organizers of the 968 gathering if we can incorporate a larger group for next year (its obviously a bit late to be changing plans this year) or else we can try to organize a "944/951/968 Rennlist" gathering of our own for next year. To be honest, if it came down to choices, I would follow Rennlist, as that has been my true "Porsche home" for a lot longer than any other group. Having said that, tho, I appreciate and commend all the work and effort that Don Hassenbein has put into it.

Like I said, I don't think its a matter of snobbery, its just that 968 owners don't get much attention from others, and so if they choose to organize an event for 968's and the space is limited, obviously non 968's are probably going to get excluded.

If you are going to be there, want to meet up for a beer? I'd like to thank you for the rear wheel bearing write up!

Regards, ...Scott

Max, I do think you're being a little touchy this time. It's just that there's not a whole lot of room at this hotel, and if non owners started showing up it would tax the setup. The parking lot we use barely fit in last years 968's, and we've got another twenty cars showing up. Same thing with the conference rooms, we packed the place last year. We'll see everyone at the Swap Meet Saturday anyway, so it's not like we're hiding the cars. It's not a gathering of exclusion, it's one of inclusion for a certain model car. We've got guys coming from all over the US to meet about this one car, and if it turned into a general Rennlist party that would dilute it I think. A Rennlist corral at the Swap Meet would be a good thing.

I just made reservations at the Best Western in Hershey. Apparently there are still some rooms available. I'm not positive yet I can be there, but cancelation is free 24 hrs before.. 89 a night, 397 miles from here. It sure would help things if I were in a CONVOY..

397 miles!!!! Might as well drive from home.

Haven't made any reservations yet. Figure I'll find a place not far away and we'll heap in with a bunch of Johnny-come-lately's

edit: Just Mapquested. Columbus is 382 Miles from Hershey!!!! I hope you meant 39.7 miles.

Edit # 2: Okay. So I admit. I've been into the Guinness. I've got it all figured out now. $89 a night. I'll probably see you there. I'll bring the cooler to cover my Foibles.

It is ~ 750mi one way from where I live, and the event is worth every mile. I hope the Wx (weather) cooperates this year. Last year it sprinkled Saturday and most the attendants bolted. Thankfully that is all it did, but a tad dissapointing not having viewed most of the cars in the parking lot yet.
Hey I would be up for a convoy!
Take care all!

Ok, it is 1233.8 Miles one way for me. Is anyone from the south driving up? I am considering going up for a few days.
