ya that 928ish rear end is pretty ugly. Is there any of these still around http://www.thebestporsche.com/news.php?extend.8.23

the front looks way too stretched out. if the front was a little bit shorter it would actually look good. but why would you spend that much money to make a good looking car look like a ****ty knockoff of a different car.

I'm trying to think of what a new 944 would look like. The lower front bumper would probably follow the trends of the Boxster/Cayman/911 (As it did in the 80's and 90's). It would probably be a bit wider. I imagine the body would be a bit rounder, with "puffier" looking fender flares. The rear would be a cross between the 968 and 997 with tail light configuration and design. The lights would look similar to that of a boxster and I'm betting that the motor would be based off of half of the Cayenne, putting out about 190hp, with a turbo version laying down at least 250-260hp. And I would think it would be cool to see a 300hp S version with tuned suspension and brakes from a GT series 911.
I however would be interested in seeing a front-mounted boxer6 with a rear mounted transaxle in light of the old layout. The flat 6 would be great for torque and center-of-gravity, being flat, and I would hope at least 2.7 liters in size. In this light, the S would probably be a bit more powerful using a Boxster S momtor, with the turbo featuring a dumbed-down 997 motor, or hopped up 2.7. This would be the coolest and most cost-efficient way to power the 944 design, with technology-recycling, being mindful of real world track conditions and performance standards.
I love my imagination.

IMO id like to see either a 3.0L I-6 or maybe the Cayenne V-6 in the front of a future 944 with a 6-speed transaxle, or maybe the 7-speed PDK...

I like it. I think the work obviously been done to a high standard. The guy obviously had a vision for a unique car, and I respect that he's made it happen. There are many modern cars that I think are far uglier. And of course, there are many stock "beater" 944s that are much uglier. Nothing says "ugly" like an undermaintained 944.

I fully expected to have to look for the vomit smilie, but I actually think it is well done. I'm not a fan of the 996 look so I can't give a fair appraisal, but the guy has skilz!

Proportions are all out of whack, which, for me anyway, take away from all the effort put into it. Snub up the front and back and I think it would look a lot better. I would have thought that they would have at least upgraded the dash/interior too.

Looks good in several of those shots, but as others have said, the proportions are off. This kind of reminds me of Honda kids who put an Acura Integra front end on a Civic hatchback... looks good from some angles, but pretty retarded from others.
