The 944 was sold today. I bought without PPI and that was mistake. Mind you the purchase price was reasonable. Over the years I worked on all the little things that go wrong, go wrong, and it is now a nice little car. It led a couple of Porsche fun runs up and down the Niagara Escarpment and it also led me to this place. Rennlist 944/951/968 has to be the jewel of Rennlist with lots of people helping each other without dumping on somebody for asking a 'dumb' question.
Our daughter was the biggest fan and it was rare that she wasn't there whenever the 944 fired up. She is 23 now and a beautiful woman and has other things on her mind but the 944 will be a fond memory for sure. A time when she asked to drive and we drove though a small time she asked could she drive Main St again. I asked why, Duh.
So it's time to move on.
The 944 is a great handling car, but is low on power and ever since getting smoked by an Explorer i vowed to fix this vexing issue. I looked at the 951's and that was tempting but power is addicting so I thought Big is better along the lines of 'No replacement for Displacement' and bought a 93-968 black coupe without an engine and separately an LS1 out of a 98 Pontiac. The Car has been in storage for two years and the engine has been collecting parts, such as 243 heads, Z06 cam, hollow and sodium fill valves, PAC racing springs, titanium retainers, forged pistons and rods, and a three stage oil pump for the dry sump, anyway there's lots more engine stuff collected that I now have the job of putting together, let alone the KONI M030 suspension and 996 Turbo brakes.
The folks on the Hybrid site have been extremely helpful and anyone considering this level of insanity are advised to visited that place regularly.
In any case, thanks for making this a fun place to visit and I'll post the results of my build when it's ready.
