These are super clean, if you are looking for that: http://www.venommotorsport.com/produ...ry=Bodystyling

Wish I would have found that one before I bought the 'plug'. I found someone on eBay selling a OEM plug and bought it for around $20 I think.

For some reason they are hard to find - maybe not, but I guess you have to find the right keyword combo to search for...I did a couple searches and came up empty. Paragon has the OE kit - but unless you want to pay $84 for a f'ing plug, I'd look elsewhere.

Here's one - comes from the UK, but around $20, I guess: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Porsche-Rear-W...07117001r39032

I used a large black plastic body plug and some clear silicone. Worked perfect, looks factory and the colour won't go white as the aluminum does over time.

I have been trying to get my hands on an early style one if anyone has one. I think the early ones are metal and not plastic like the later version.

I went to Lowes yesterday and bought a package of two 11/16" plastic plugs (found in the fastner/bolt isle) for $1.50. They look totally factory.

I can post pictures when I get home if anyone is interested.

I'm curious.... does removing the wiper assembly make a noticeable difference in the hatch staying open with marginal gas struts? 2-1/2 lbs right near the rear edge, would seem like it would make a difference.

yes. My hatch would never stay open with the wiper on - took it off and now it stays open 100% no problem. I had considered changing the struts but read horror stories from folks who had changed them and it accelerated the glass seperating from the frame. I'm already in that place and certainly don't want to speed that up.

Removing it also quieted it down back there - the wiper contraption with the plastic cover rattled a bit itself.

Does not look exactly like the original plug, but has a "factory" type look for $0.75 each.

I took a hack saw blade and made a grove in the plug so it would slide in easier.

Arnnworx plug arrived in the mail today. Are there any tricks to removing the wiper motor? I had a quick peek and it looked like there is some kind of bracket attached to the hatch frame.

Nothing to it; the wire prongs at the bottom/rear of the "frame" sticks thru holes in the rubber weatherstripping (on an '84 anyway). Remove the nut on the wiper shaft and it all comes off (disconnect wires)
