Post 17" boxster rims on an 86 turbo

I currently have an '87 NA with 17" boxster rims on them. I found a decent '86 951 for sale for a pretty good price. What will I need to make these rims fit on this car.

Also, what are the pros and cons of the '86 951 as compared with the newer ones?

Its a black 951 with 105K for $4950. The only thing is that it has a salvage title. What are the repercussions of this? will this make my insurance rates higher? The car has had body work but it was done very professionaly and looks great.
thanks

They will fit with spacers, and longer studs, not really a big deal, you see a lot of people running them.

Or you could spaw spindles and all that jazz to get them to fit.

Or you could sell the boxster wheels, and buy wheels with the proper offset.

As for the differences, well there are a few between teh 86 and the 87+ cars

86 cars, 23 mm offset, not airbags, diff cooler
87+ cars, 52mm offset, airbags, upgraded DME, and a few other things.

Most people like the 87+ cars because of the updates to them, I am getting my 86 in 5 days, so I'll tell ya'll how I like it.

How hard is it to put in longer studs? Also are there chips available for pre 87 cars? and what kind of HP difference does it make. Also what are the suspension difference btw the 86 and 87+ cars?

I had thought that there were more suspension differences, but the coil overs I ran on my 88 will bolt up to the 86 with out any problems. The sway bars from the later cars will bolt up. What I'm trying to say is all that stuff is the same.

And yes the kits to put the longer studs in are available, and a very resonable. I won't run them, because I don't like spacers, but that is a personal thing, and is mainly due to the fact that I track my cars.

so are you saying that i will need to upgrade to those suspension items (and they will fit right on) or are they already stock on the 86.
Are there some downsides in using spacers? And what exactly is considered a reasonable price for the studs. Porsche parts as we all know can cause our hearts to skip a beat once we look at the price tag.

Those wheels will fit perfect with spacers and studs and the procedure given here:

If you shop around, you can find a complete set of studs and spacers for the entire car for $150-200.

Crow Automotive Products sells the spacers for $46-$66 each new. The set of Kinesis Supercups that I have are boxster offset. Kinesis told me 1" front spacers and 1/2" rear, but the rears seem to fit without them. These are 18x8 and 18x9.5 though..
