Maybe someone can help me.
I parked my 86 951 for about 2 weeks and when I came back my speedo didn't work. Just sits on zero. All of the other gauges work.
The cruise control does not work either. Does that mean it is something upstream of the speedo? Does the cruise brain feed from the speedo or does it get its data directly from the sensor on the trans?
Thanks,
Walt

Concerning the speedo, probably the little gear is broken.
There is a write up about r/r of the speedo gear that I've seen somewhere on this list (not sure).

there is no little gear involved in the speedo itself. the plastic gear that commonly fails drives the odometer/trip assy from a stepping motor in the speedo housing.
if it were a mechanical failure in the speedometer mechanism, the cruise control would still work.
if the cruise brain gets its data from the speedo, the problem could be speedo OR sensor, if the brain gets its data directly from the sensor, the problem must be sensor related.
does anyone know where the cruise brain gets its data?
