Post Clutch update, NE dyno day

For those who were there, my clutch was one of those that was slipping. I did NNJR's Car Control Clinic today and after each segment there was noticable clutch odor (except where masked by even stronger tire odor) and the slip is now noticable on the course. Looks like next weeks Autox will be the last one for this clutch.

On a related note, Z-man, Al P. and I had way too much fun, if we learned anything you are all in deep $#!+ at the 6/23 autox

I didn't ask, but I'm sure it was less than a week, maybe just a day or two. Good luck tomorrow.

I'm not sure...3 in a row is quite a few. (m-club this weekend, NNJR next weekend)
I'll probably end up going though.

Dave you gonna come kick my @$$ at the metro NY event on the 30th?

Sorry, you're on your own, I'll be in VA 6/29 to 7/7 for my sister's wedding.

EDIT: But if it'll make you feel any better, I'll beat you at the NNJR events on 6/23 and 7/13

Dave,
I spoke with a few people about the slipping clutches. one mechanic told me the plate may be glazed so it slips under duress.

my mechanic wanted to go with me to check out the dyno. he was a little concerned about the car. he equates the dyno to a stress test. when i spoke to him about the problem he told me the dyno is putting the car under the most extreme stress to see what it can do. he reminded me that i use the car on the street most of the time.

the bottom line is i will loose a little time when i autox it but for everyday driving drive the car until i see further signs.

when my clutch was replaced (two days after i bought the car) i asked for the old parts back. Rick Deman suggested that maybe only the clutch plate was replaced. I thought that might be the case then i remembered that i had the old parts, the rubber donut rotted, the clutch had life on it, and all the parts were date stamped the same time the car was made.

in summation, im driving the car till the clutch slips in everyday driving.

[trash talk]
Dave: do I need to take a number, or can I just line up to smack Adrial next Sunday!

Turbo? Who needs a turbo?!?!?

And Dave: I got you in my sights! hehehe...
Considering Dave's got an n/a, and I have an S2, I'd better stop letting him beat me...
[/trash talk]

It's all driver....

Zoltan you're lucky I'm not doing DE this season.

You on the straight -- "ahh there's adrial coming up behind me...wow he's coming up awfully fast...oh @$#@$@# I better get out of the way"

You on the corners -- "wow he's certaintly moving away from me with that suspension..."

Me all the time -- "ha ha ha where's your little parking lot now?!?"

[/trash talk]

Yea it is mostly driver
I need to let one of the fast 944 turbo drivers drive my car and see what I'm doing wrong...hmm everything maybe??

For De, it's more like:
Me on the straight: "ahh, there's adrial coming up behind me...wow he's coming up awfully fast...oh $@%$@%@$ I better get out of the way"
Me in the corners: "would you get out of my way, Adrial! I love this low end torque!"
Adrial in the next straight: "$#@%@#$ where did He come from!"

"Straights are for fast cars. Corners are for fast drivers."

Not trying DE this year? I understand that you're NOT HARDCORE enough.... muhahahah. (I will never let you forget that comment!) BTW: I was moved up from Green to Yellow run group after only one event...you're gonna have to advance quick to be running with me...

I think we need to turn on the "Trash mode" for this whole thread.

Loving you,
-Z.

Thumbs up

Mark me down as fresh meat for next Sunday's AutoX.
I was at the Car Control Clinic Saturday (my first event of any type) and I'm really looking forward to some autocross action. If that slalom was any indication - I'm looking at some seriously slow times!
Look forward to seeing you guys there.

Clem: nice black 968! I was admiring your car from afar! There was quite a 968 turnout Saturday: yours, a blue coupe, and a red cabrio!

Operator: the parking lot we use for autox is the one that is located NORTH of the horse racetrack. If you were to stand on rt 3 and face Giants Stadium, the lot is behind and to the left of the Stadium. You'll find it, I'm sure...
