Dash Recover Kit Now Available
In response to several requests I put together a Do It Yourself Dash Recover Kit for the 944 and 968.
It consists of a vinyl, leather or Alcantara dash cover, custom defroster trim with mounting bolts, underlayment foam and instructions.
I had the defroster trim made specifically for the 944 and 968 dashboards. It's made of steel and is unfinished. You can paint it, anodize it, or powder coat it.
Most leather and vinyl colors are available and of course any custom material or color can be done by special request.
It should be mentioned that recovering a 944 dash is still a lot of work even with this kit. The dash be out of the car, the defrost duct removed, and all cracks be repaired before the cover goes on. The AC vent openings and the plastic cluster surround must be trimmed to allow clearance for the material.
The kit sells for $279 in vinyl and is available here. Add $50 for the air bag version and $80 for leather or Alcantara.
The defroster trim is available by itself for $139 here.
More pictures are here.
I also have a version of this defroster trim piece that can be used on the 924 and early 944 dash. Same shape, but it has fewer holes in it.
If you handy with you hands, pay attention to detail, and take you time, you should be able to get close to professional results.
Of course if you send me your dash, I can do it for an additional $250.

It takes more than double the amount of material and time to make. Installation is more difficult since the substrate is cardboard. Later models have a steel substrate.

Rob,
At the moment my dash has a leather cover. The PO did the work (which is rather **** poor, IMO), but usable. Is it possible to purchase the dash vent piece individually? It would really clean up the nasty cut lines the PO did. Please PM me the details if this is available.
Thank you.

I also have a couple cores available. The core charges are $150 for the non air bag version and $200 for an air bag version.
Installation cost is $250 and $300 respectively.
Shipping cost is additional.

You'll see it soon! I got the car running last night, so today I'm going to throw an alignment on it, flush the cooling system and install the splitter.

My dash was done by Mr. Budd. I had both the upper and lower sections done (black over linen). I'm in-process of changing the beige-grey interior parts over to linen, so the panels don't match at the moment.

I just bought a spare dash saturday to do this with, how difficult is the install? It's probably easy for you but what kinda of skill set does one need also do you sell kits for the console and bottom of the dash if I wanted to it myself? How do you go about repairing the existing damage? Thanks!
