Click & Clack of NPR's Cartalk?!?!?!
I'm an avid listener, but I'll have to disagree with the brothers on this one:
http://cartalk.cars.com/Columns/Archive/1995/June/06.html

My list would be:
1. Porsche
2. Honda
3. Probe
4. My Bike
5. Walking
6. Buick
7. Saturn

The Porsche may help you get dates (in part because there's so little room in the back for your roadkill)

I'll have to agree with the guys here,,,but probably on different grounds. Anyone who's comfortable driving around in a 180k mile Corolla (not that there's anything wrong with that) is NOT ready for the leap to Porschedom. This cat doesn't drive,,he commutes,,and he probably wouldn't appreciate the things a 944 would bring him in exchange for the higher maintenance costs he'd undoubtedly be facing. In short, the dude would be disappointed. Let him get the Probe and THINK he's cool.

Shoot, the guy says it all right here: [quote] Good reliability, high mileage, low insurance and maintenance costs, and long engine life are more important to me than great performance.

If those were my criteria, I'd have given the P-car a passing glance (maybe). I'd have bought something that's a dime a dozen (easy to find parts), is noted for reliability (probably a Honda/Acura - non-interferance engine - though Volvo might be in the running too), tuned for mechanical effeciency (for the steller gas mileage). Most of the econ-boxes that fall into that bracket also happen to be kind on the insurance premiums aswell.
I guess a Probe or Saturn would do - but those are girlie cars in my mind (along with the Rustang from 92 on).
*shrugs* everyone's got an opinion.

I have considered the Buick Reatta, which I know very little about, the Ford Probe, the Honda CRX, the Saturn SC2, and the Porsche 944.
Huh? WTF?
I am thinking of buying a very large turd,
A somewhat smaller turd,
One of two small turds,
or a precision built high performance German sports car,

I think Click and Clack got the right answer in this case. He's obviously not a car guy, so the Probe is probably right for him.
But they obviously missed the boat on this one. (Oil cooler seals, duh...)

Don't you mean "against" Trisk. And they think all cell phones should be melted down into hairspray, along with thier owners.
Along a previously mentioned topic.
What is with the oil cooler? We have almost twice the oil capacity as any other 4 banger, a vented aluminum oil pan that's good for shedding some heat. AND an oil cooler. Our oil should be at about room temprature, or cooler, with all of this. What's the deal?

Against is correct, I remember a while back they were whining about how a V-6 Z3 was just more than anybody needs, I was thinking a turbo on it would be kinda cool.

Er ahhh ok. I geuss I see what is happening, but wonder if it's worth all the extra bits. But it also explains why A. the car warms up quickly, B. doesn't warm up at all if your just sitting in the lot idling.
Yeah I remember them complaining about the z-3. They are heavily against to much power. And everytime it snows and I'm out in my Bronco with no worries about getting stuck I question there sanity in relation to SUV's
The whole SUV argument confuses me anyways. Yeah they are gas guzzlers, but then they say they are unsafe
"?????"
"well when you hit a smaller car you cause more damage to it, with less damage to you."
"THAT DOESN"T MAKE MY TRUCK UNSAFE!, That means the small car is unsafe. It's basic freaking physics."
"Then there is the rollover factor."
Did you know that the vehicle with the most rollovers ever year, is also the car least likely to rollover. It's wide, low, and bottom heavy. The Corvette.

I wonder how fast I can take this here turn?!? I think i'll kick her back end round like i saw them cars at the dirt track do last week. Yeehaw!" Yeah, i know some of those guys. I am one of those guys.
