Anybody rotate their 944 tachometer 90 degrees to give it the racing gauge look?

The light has two functions - first it lights up if your ex-wife, or optionally your ex-girlfriend is near your car.

The second function is if your cat gets too hot. No light on North American cars.

LOL... it is a CAT performance warning light. I've only ever seen it on Japanese domestic market specification cars which are quite common in Japan and as imports to New Zealand and Australia.

I read a story many years ago in Automobile magazine that Porsche engineers put some effort into the aesthetics of the dashboard and instruments including making sure that the sweep of the speedo and tach match in top gear. You just made all their hard work totally irrelevant.

Completely understand that POV... I have huge admiration to the thought that went into the function and form of these cars and am a fan of factory detailing. I just had the dash out and had a recollection that this question had been asked and enjoyed the challenge. I can revert back to std orientation without to much fuss but there are out there who like the outlaw race look.

Real challenge would be to make needle stand still and dial rotate.
