that was an old (iron) small-block, not an LS7, just FYI lol.

it was pretty badly tuned though, it would completely die if it went over like 3psi because it leaned out too much. gas was pissing out of the carb instead of a nice drip drip trickle at idle, maybe because it was a draw-through setup. the two turbos were nice and shiny though

I don't mean to be a dick, but what happens when one of us gets in an accident in a 948?
Does anyone have insurance that covers their hybrid?
My dad runs several 928s, but advises that a heavily modified 944 could be construed as a "dangerous overpowering" or something.

Does anyone know how to insure one so that we don't go bankrupt event of an accident? I really want to win this argument...and have a 944 that is as strong as his 928 (or stronger)

Cause a 944 is much more pretty

Well, an LS1 runs a lot cleaner than a 944 motor, so the swap doesn't really pollute at all.

As for getting it to pass, well, that's more complicated. If you want the details, go to Nevada and talk to Scott.

Oh, oops. For some reason my brain had combined it with the 928.

Anyway, the thing was a rolling bomb.

That not being a dick; that's an excellent question.

Here's the solution that I am going to go with:

HA. Great post Whisper.

Greatest line ever:

yeah...

Whisper's look on his face after he drove the LS1 951 was pretty much exactly the same as every other person that has drove the car. They all have the same common denominator: They look as if they just got off the most crazy roller coaster they've ever ridden.

But don't take my word for it... come drive it.

Sounds interesting. I have two questions for you:
1: How much heavier is the car with the ls1 compared to a stock 944?
2: How much worse is the handling compared to a stock 944?

Oh, and also how much different is it from a 928?

handling is basically the same, maybe better because the extra ~60lbs of the ls swap put more grip on the front tires which counteracts the natural understeer in the chassis

1. Less than 60 lbs.
2. None.

It's lighter.

It's more powerful.

It doesn't require a resident mechanic in the trunk.

And it's not ugly.

Putting weight over wheels (especially non-driven wheels) is NOT a recipe for more grip. If that were the case, F1 drivers would look like Rosie O'Donnell.

The idea of an LS1 swap is really interesting. Before I took the leap, I'd need to have a turn-key solution with a known cost, a known outcome and a known deadline. With Renegade getting out of the business of installing their own kits, the options become less predictable.

I thought the swap didn't add any weight to the front? My impression was that it was an even swap since the 944 block tends to be pretty heavy for being a 4-banger?
