Default 86 Turbo Valve Question

I'm not sure anyone can answer this but here goes. First of all the car I am working on has no history. From engine numbers I'm positive the block is not the original block. I'm having the head reworked and told the machinist that the exhaust valves were sodium filled. He called me today and said he thought the valves weighted to much to be sodium filled. So my question is does anyone know the weight of a stock 86 951 exhaust valve? Secondly were all 951 exhaust valves sodium filled?

Hey Charlie
All 951 exhaust valves are sodium filled. I have some N/A exhaust valves, but I don't have anyway to weigh them.

Thanks Todd, I was hoping someone could weigh one. I hope the head is a off a turbo and not an NA.

How can you tell the block doesn't belond in the car? I thought on the 944s there was no resource to check which block went with which car.

The turbo head will have a "T" stamped in it. It is located on a flat near the head and block junction, between #1 & #2 cylinders. Close to that, between #2 & #3 cylinders should be a part number starting with 951...

The sodium filled valves are heavier than the NA valves.

The turbo head will have a 951 part number. Also, the block code will be 51 or 44

Tell him to lick the valves. He should be able to taste the sodium.

Of course I'm joking

I thought they would be lighter.
