Default fuel gauge low level warning light question

So when is the red light supposed to come on? As you can see, my fuel level is pretty low and I'm afraid the warning light bulb is burned out. To take that further, when the ignition key is "ON" but the engine not running (as pictured) aren't all the warning lights supposed to come on to let you know they work? So in my case the low fuel light and the light for engine overheating would not appear to be working.

The manual says:

"Instrument panel lights" and then "The warning lights will light up for a bulb check when the ignition is turned on. They should go out after the engine is started."

Am I on the right track here?

The "low fuel level" light is actually amber. Is uses a float and unless the level is low enough for that float to make contact then the light will not come on. If you are curious if the bulb is out, pull the cluster and pop the bulb out to check.

The warning light is a seperate sender from the level guage. If you're really curious, just get a gallon or so in a can with you and keep driving.

Thanks you guys. So can anyone verify if the warning light should illuminate (regardless of fuel level) when the key is "ON" but the engine not running? Maybe someone could try it on their car and see if thats how it works.

No, It doesn't come on with the bulb check. The warning lights on the oil and voltage guages do though.
