Default spark plug recommendation - 1987 944NA

Search wasn't very helpful - looking for consensus on whether to replace plugs with WR7DC's or if there is a benefit to using the platinums. My initial thought is to just stay with the WR7DC's.

And a sensible thought it is. Platinums are meant more for longevity than performance. I would stick with the Bosch coppers. You can also try the NGK equivalent that's stated in your owner's manual, but they tend to run a bit hotter.

My experience with older BMWs lead me to stick with the Bosch copper plugs. For some reason, my BMWs didn't like the platinum plugs at all. I haven't tried the platinums in my 944, but would tend to stay with the copper plugs based on prior experience.

I pulled the existing plugs (Beru), and found that they all had a nice grey/tan coloration. They have not been replaced since 2004 (90K check), car now has 122K. I could re-gap the plugs, but wanted to get a consensus if I should just replace. That is my belief, but wanted to get opinions of others.

I have used Bosch Platinum +2 plugs since buying the car in 2005 and have not had a single problem since. I believe I am on my second set, the first set I pulled because they were in the car when the HG blew and I reused them to break in the engine after the teardown.

I will probably be switching to a basic copper plug whenever I put the supercharger on though for heat dissipation.

Bosch Coppers. From my experience and from that of other mechanics. Our motors were designed on bosch coppers or the ngk's as Luis said they do run a bit hotter. The only thing you will notice with platinum's is they cost more.

Use Bosch Supers if you can still find them.

I use the coppers in my race car.
