Post Rear main seal woes....

I have recently purchased an '88 944 and am doing a clutch job. The rear main replacement seems easier than the old way but removing the old one is a little puzzling, not wanting to damage anything in the process. Any tips?

You can carefully pry it out with a small screw driver. You will see a little notch in the block where you can start prying. Be very careful not to mar the block or the crank. I tapped my new seal in with a small piece of wood and it has lasted 2 years so far.

Standard disclaimers apply, I haven't been down there for a while.
