Default Lost shift linkage bolt... replacement??

Last weekend I lost the bolt that connects the one plate to the spherical bearing area of the shift linkage. Here is a picture:

My question is, do I need a special bolt to replace this one? I just stuck an m10 in there but there is still slop in it.

With the proper bolt, can I just loctite it in?? Any special instructions so I don't loose it again?

Thanks,
Alex

Odd, I lost that exact same bolt while driving last year. Luckily I found the bolt on the side of the road and was able to put it back in. I know I originally had trouble getting it to fit - bolt was too long and kept binding up the spherical bearing. That was fixed by finding a washer next to the bolt on the ground and installing it (effectively making the bolt 'shorter').

I need to take mine back apart soon and put it back together with locktite (I obviously didn't reinstall with locktite on the side of the road), so if you can't figure it out, let me know and I'll give you the specs off of mine.

P.S., is your's the "Schnell" shifter (as pictured) or is it a different one?

Yeah you need the pointy bolt, not a regular one.

Might be able to get one at an Import Auto store. Preferably with a pre-drilled hole for safety wire

Hmm does anyone have specs for this bolt? Can you link it online?

Thanks,
Alex

This isn't the pointy bolt that holds the shift rod to the linkage (that bolt goes where the dimple is at the right of the picture). This one is a standard bolt, but I don't know the thread pitch, length or diameter off the top of my head. I may get a chance to pull mine out this weekend, and if I do, I'll post the specs on it here ASAP.

In the mean time, you could try contacting Schnell, they may be able to tell you the bolt specifics.

Well if its just a standard bolt, I guess I dont have much to worry about then. I just threw an M10 in there and it works for now. I just need to loctite it and im good i guess.

Thanks guys.
